What do WordPress hosting and maintenance mean?
WordPress hosting means the server space a site runs on, and maintenance covers the work that keeps the site running: updates, security fixes, backups and monitoring. Many companies buy only the server space and assume maintenance takes care of itself. It does not, and that is where hacked sites and lost data come from. Selecto handles both on its own Easyhost platform: the site runs on Selecto’s servers and Selecto answers for how it works.
When something breaks, the one who fixes it is the same one who hosts the site, and there are no two suppliers pointing at each other.

Why maintenance matters
An unmaintained WordPress is the most common reason a company website gets hacked. New vulnerabilities appear in plugins all the time, and the attacks are automated: bots scan the web and break into sites whose updates are behind. A bot does not know your company, it looks for an open door. Selecto handles updates and security fixes on time and in a controlled way.
An update gets tested, not just clicked and hoped for. If an update breaks something, we restore the previous version and find the cause before trying again.

Easyhost backups are taken at three levels: site level, server level and a separate external store. A single accident, a server failure or a problem across a whole data center does not wipe out your data. Selecto tests restores regularly and runs them as part of normal operations. Plenty of cheap services promise backups, but few check in advance that the restore actually works.

Monitoring is on Selecto
Selecto monitors the sites on Easyhost around the clock. If a site goes down, slows down or behaves strangely, the alert comes to Selecto and the fix starts before your customers notice anything. You do not have to be the one who calls to say the site is down. Monitoring covers security as well.
Every site has a firewall and attack prevention as a baseline. These are included in the service at no extra charge.
