Software development and system integrations

We connect your online store, ERP and financial systems to each other and build software that off-the-shelf products do not cover. If an interface exists, the integration almost always works.

What is a system integration?

A system integration means connecting two or more pieces of software to each other so that data moves between them automatically. When an order comes into the online store, it moves to the ERP system without anyone typing it in again. Integration removes double work, typing errors and the situation where the same data sits in three places in three different forms.

Selecto builds integrations on top of the systems own interfaces. That means the connection is not a fragile workaround but the way the vendor supports moving data, which also survives software updates.

Why integration pays off

The benefit of an integration is simple: the same data is entered once, and it is correct everywhere. In a small or mid-sized company this typically means hours a week away from routine work, fewer errors in invoicing and stock levels you can trust.

Without an integration a company pays an invisible price every day: orders are entered by hand, invoices are reconciled by hand, and at the turn of the month someone works out why the figures do not match. An integration costs once, manual work costs again every time.

Online store integrations

An online store integration connects the store to the other systems of the company: the ERP system, accounting, inventory management and logistics. Selecto builds integrations for WooCommerce and Shopify stores in both directions, so orders move from the store into the systems and product data, prices and stock levels move from the systems into the store.

A working online store is rarely just a store. It is a whole in which an order sets off a chain: the stock level updates, the invoice is created in accounting, the delivery leaves and the customer gets a tracking code. Once that chain has been built properly, the merchant can concentrate on selling instead of moving data.

Financial system integrations

A financial integration moves orders, invoices and customer data from the sales systems straight into accounting. Selecto has built integrations to Visma Nova among others, and the same know-how covers Netvisor, Procountor and the other financial software used by Finnish companies.

In financial connections it is accuracy that decides. VAT amounts, rounding and accounting entries go wrong easily, and even a small deviation multiplies across hundreds of transactions. That is why we build the transfers so that every transaction can be traced and errors are caught before they end up in the books.

API integrations and legacy systems

An API integration means moving data through the programming interface a system provides. Selecto builds API integrations to ERP, CRM and warehouse systems, including older systems where the interface is limited or the documentation is incomplete.

Many companies assume that their old system cannot be connected to anything. Most of the time it can. If a direct interface is missing, data can be moved as files, at database level or through intermediate storage. We will tell you honestly if a connection is not worth building, but that is rare.

Software development: when off-the-shelf runs out

Off-the-shelf software handles the basics of a company, but at some point a need turns up that nothing ready made will bend to. Selecto develops web applications and internal tools that are built around the company own process: campaign applications, customer portals, admin tools and calculators.

Building software of your own is worth it when it is a competitive advantage, or when forcing an off-the-shelf product into your own process would cost more than building your own. We build software light and maintainable: no oversized architecture, just a tool that does its job and can be extended when the need grows.

What we have built

Selecto has built integrations and software that are in daily use: data transfer between an online store and Visma Nova for an industrial retailer, a campaign application based on a customer game for a nationwide chain, and Easylead, our own lead tool. Three different needs, the same way of working.

Online store and Visma Nova integration for an industrial retailer

The WooCommerce store of a company selling lubricants was connected to Visma Nova: products, prices and orders move automatically, and the online store serves two brands out of the same system.

A campaign application for a nationwide chain

We built an application based on a customer game that is in use at the chain locations across Finland. The application works as a tool for the salesperson in customer encounters and has held up under nationwide use.

A lead tool for our own use

Easylead is an application of our own that finds the contact details of the right decision maker by company name. We built it ourselves because nothing ready made existed, and the same product is now in use by our customers.

An integration is not a project but a connection that is kept in service

The value of an integration is measured only once it is running. Interfaces change, systems update and errors happen. Selecto monitors the integrations it builds and fixes problems before they show up in the business: an order stuck in the queue is not lost but processed, and a failed transfer alerts us, not your customer.

This is why our customers do not buy just an integration from us but data transfer that works. Our responsibility does not end at launch.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Ask your own question
Can our old system be connected?

Many companies assume that their old system cannot be connected to anything. Most of the time it can. We build API integrations to older systems as well, where the interface is limited or the documentation is incomplete. We will tell you honestly if a connection is not worth building, but that is rare.

What if there is no interface?

If a direct interface is missing, data can be moved as files, at database level or through intermediate storage. Tell us which systems you use and we will say straight out whether they can be connected and how.

What does an integration cost?

The price depends on which systems are connected and what data moves between them. We give you the figure in the review before anything is built, and the review is not billed. An integration costs once, manual work costs again every time.

Who monitors the integration after launch?

We do. Interfaces change, systems update and errors happen. We monitor the integrations we build and fix problems before they show up in the business: an order stuck in the queue is not lost but processed, and a failed transfer alerts us, not you. Our responsibility does not end at launch.

When is it worth building software of your own?

When it is a competitive advantage, or when forcing an off-the-shelf product into your own process would cost more than building your own. We build software light and maintainable: no oversized architecture, just a tool that does its job and can be extended when the need grows.

Which systems should be talking to each other?

Tell us which systems you use and we will say straight out whether they can be connected and how. We do not charge for the review.
