How can we help?
Tell us your situation and you get a straight answer within one business day. We do not charge for the assessment.
You can stop looking
We keep running what we build, so a client stays with the house for years rather than months. That is why we say up front whether this fits both sides, instead of three meetings in.
A good fit
A small or midsize company with a real problem: too much manual work, a store that does not sell, systems that do not talk to each other.
- You want one partner who takes it all the way
- The need is concrete, the spec is not written yet
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch
Not a good fit
You are hunting for the cheapest builder, or putting five vendors head to head on price alone. We are not the cheapest and we do not try to be.
- You want hands, not a partner who will also disagree
- The answer is already chosen and the problem is not up for discussion
- We say it straight when we cannot help
How we proceed
You tell us your situation and we look at it together to see if we can help. You get a price and a schedule before any work starts.
- The first assessment is free
- One message gets you a ballpark
- The first conversation commits you to nothing
What people ask us
These are the questions that come up most often. If yours is not here, ask below and we will gladly answer it.
How much does this cost, without a discovery meeting?
I have asked three agencies for a price. Every one of them says it depends. Then comes a discovery meeting, a second meeting, and a month later a quote with three options and a price twice what I had in mind. I do not want a meeting, I want to know the order of magnitude.
The website prices are listed openly on the price list: see the prices. Agents, integrations and custom builds are priced after the assessment, because their scope varies by a factor of ten.
You get the order of magnitude from one message, without a meeting: tell us what you are doing and we will say whether it is a thousand-euro or a ten-thousand-euro job. We do not bill for the assessment, and the final price is fixed before anything starts.
We have nobody here who understands this
We are a ten-person company. None of us knows anything technical. The site was made by a friend years ago, the email is somewhere, nobody knows where the domain is. I am afraid that if I get in touch, I will have to answer questions I do not understand.
You do not need to understand anything technical. Finding out is our job, and it starts with digging up where the domain, the hosting and the email currently are.
All you need to know is who pays the invoices and which address the messages go to. A large share of our customers came from exactly this situation, and the outcome is usually that everything moves into one place and onto one supplier.
Is AI actually useful for a small company or is it just hype?
Every second salesperson talks about AI. Nobody tells us what it would do in our company. We enter orders by hand, check invoices by hand, and quote requests arrive by email. Where exactly does AI help, or is this the same hype as blockchain was?
The three jobs you describe are exactly the ones an AI agent suits, because they repeat and they have a rule that can be written down:
- orders from email into the system
- checking invoices
- sorting and routing quote requests
We do not start from the technology, we start from where the time goes. The assessment goes through where the working hours actually end up, and after that we know what is worth automating, what deserves an agent and what is best left alone.
Will we end up dependent on you?
The previous supplier kept everything in its own hands. The domain was in their name, the hosting was theirs, and every text change had a price. When we wanted to switch, it took two months to get the credentials. I do not want to be in that position again.
The domain is always in your name, not ours. You get access to everything we build, and you can edit the content yourself without us.
If you ever want to change supplier, we hand over the credentials the same day and we do not try to slow it down.
We keep customers with the quality of the work, not with locks.
What do you need from me to start, and how fast do you reply?
I do not have a finished specification or an approved budget. There is just a situation that has been on the table for six months. Do I have to work out what I want first, or can I write to you as things stand?
Write as things stand. To start we only need a description of the situation in your own words, not a finished specification. Writing the specification is often part of the first piece of work.
We reply within one business day. We answer the phone on weekdays between 9 and 17, and if we miss you we call back. The first conversation commits you to nothing.
Shopify or WooCommerce for our online store?
We are setting up our first online store. Google gives back ten comparison articles that all have the same table and affiliate links. Which one is the right choice for a Finnish small business selling physical products?
The choice usually comes down to one question: how much room to move do you need.
Shopify suits you when you want to get going fast. The platform handles the technical side and there are fewer moving parts to maintain.
WooCommerce suits you when the store needs more freedom to customize, a WordPress site alongside it, or more unusual integrations such as one into an ERP.
We will tell you straight which one fits you and why. If neither fits, we build the store another way.
Should we move from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365?
We have had Gmail and Drive for years. Our accountant and a couple of customers send everything as Excel files and Teams invites, and it feels like half a day goes into converting files. Is it worth switching, and does work stop during the move?
Work does not stop. Selecto is an official Microsoft partner and has run the migrations for dozens of companies from Gmail, from old servers and from mixed environments.
Email, calendars and files are moved in the background, and the switch is done so that the user notices it only once everything is already in place.
The situation you describe, where time goes into converting files, is the most common reason to switch. We go through the licenses at the same time: you are often paying for licenses nobody uses.
Who maintains the site after it has been launched?
The previous site was built once and after that nobody touched it. Three years later it had been hacked and WordPress was four versions behind. I do not want the same thing to happen again, but we have nobody here who would remember to update it.
We maintain it, and it does not depend on your memory. Selecto runs sites on its own Easyhost platform and maintains over 150 of them.
Maintenance covers updates, security fixes, backups and monitoring. An update is tested before it is published, and if something breaks we restore the previous version.
The situation you describe comes from someone buying only the server space and assuming the maintenance takes care of itself. Building and maintaining are one service here, so the one who fixes it is the same one who hosts the site.
